How to Speed Up Computer (Without Reinstalling Windows)

When you install windows, it is usual that your pc will slow after a few weeks of installation of windows. And you have to reinstall windows to speed up your computer. But after reading this post, you will don’t need to reinstall windows to speed up your computer. The easiest way to speed up your computer is to clean it. There are many ways to clean up your pc without reinstalling windows.

Use “Keep My Files” Feature in Windows 10:

It may surprise you that windows 10 has a feature that the factory reset your pc without touching your personal files. This is a safe way to clean your pc. It is a technical reinstallation of windows that doesn’t remove your important data. You don’t need to redownload programs and software.

How to use the “Keep My Files” feature?

To use this useful feature in windows 10 goto Settings > Update & Security > Recovery. From there, click on the button Get Started at the bottom of Reset This Pc. It will ask two options to use from. Keep my files and  Remove everything. If you choose the first option, it will remove and reset apps and settings. But it will don’t touch your personal files. On the other hand, if you choose the second option, it will remove all data like apps, settings, and personal files.

Uninstall Bloatware And Unwanted Programs:

Sometimes windows come with a pre-installed unwanted program named Bloatware. You should uninstall it. There are many other unwanted programs in windows. You can uninstall many programs from the windows control panel.  You can’t uninstall some programs from the control panel. To uninstall these tricky programs, use Revo Uninstaller.

Clean Up The Windows Registry:

You may think that after uninstalling a program, all data of that program will remove. But it does not work in every case. When you install a program, windows create a database of that program. After the removal of that program, windows remove all data about it. But sometimes windows do not remove it automatically. You have to remove that bloated entries because sometimes it reduces the performance of the computer. To remove these unnecessary files, use the freeware registry cleaner. It will identify which program you should delete and which should not.

Take a backup before using this method to avoid any loss of data.

Disable Unwanted Startup Programs:

Your pc may run slow at boot even you have uninstalled unnecessary programs from it. Many heavy programs are running at startup. You should stop these programs to speed up your PC’s boot. To disable this resource-heavy startup software, open the Task Manager by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, from there go to the Start-up tab. It will show programs that are running at startup. You can see how much time software is taking at startup under the column “Start-up impact.” To block an unnecessary startup program, right-click on that program and click Disable. If you find that you diable a useful program at startup, you can enable it again in Task Manager.

So, you can speed up your pc by following these steps. But it, not a recommended way. If you want some extra then you should reinstall windows. These steps are for those who don’t want to reinstall windows.
